Our purpose is to provide financial, physical and moral support to the instrumental music programs at Bayard Rustin High School.

Most volunteer opportunities are restricted to current booster members, but there are lots of other ways you can support our program.
X

It requires about $1000 per student to provide the high-quality, well-regarded band program at Rustin.  The school district only provides a small amount of the money required.  The Rustin Band Boosters are committed to providing the remaining funds to ensure that the program thrives, and that all students can participate.

There are several ways you can help the program financially:

  • Purchase a discount card.
For $10, you can get discounts on a variety of area businesses.  The card is good for 1 year and can be used multiple times (it typically pays for itself in 2-3 uses).

  • Come out to one of our Knights Out fundraisers.
Throughout the year, we partner with local businesses (like Rita’s and Chick-Fil-A) so that you can enjoy something tasty for a good cause.

  • Choose us on Amazon Smile.
Shop at the largest online retailer through smile.amazon.com, and select Bayard Rustin Band Boosters as your charitable organization.  A percentage of your purchase comes back to us.

  • Purchase advertising for A Knight in Motion.
Ads start at just $50 and appear in the event program, which is distributed to all students, staff and guests from high schools in the Mid-Atlantic region.

  • Purchase advertising on our trailer.
The marching band owns a full-sized tractor trailer for towing musical equipment to all football games and competitions.  Our trailer is seen each week by people all over the region.

  • Donate to our scholarship fund.
Each year, we work to ensure that money is not a barrier to participation.  Scholarships are granted to students for the season or for specific events (e.g., competition trips).
